The Legacy named Slash

Saul Hudson, better known as Slash, is an English American songwriter, musician, and music producer. He is a worldwide famous lead guitarist mostly always referred to with Guns ‘N’ Roses. 55 years old, he is still renowned as one of the finest lead guitarists that this world has ever witnessed. Some of his legendary work has been awarded high regards. Time magazine named him runner-up on their list of "The 10 Best Electric Guitar Players" in 2009, while Rolling Stone placed him at number 65 on their list of "The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" in 2011. The main riff of Sweet Child ‘O’ Mine was placed 1st in Total Guitar music magazine. He has countless such songs which consist of some mind-boggling guitar riffs. Some say his fingers would go invisible while playing those crazy riffs …

Saul was given the nickname “Slash” by Seymour Cassel, because he was "always in a hurry, zipping around from one thing to another". It also goes along with his playstyle of lead guitar; He slays the guitar strings down as if they were the sinners and he the punisher. Guns and Roses have been his greatest success and the strongest support of his legacy of a journey. Even though the band was abruptly disbanded, Slash never let his respect fall ever for his former bandmates. It is said that the decision was never mutual, and Slash had already made his mind to move on from Guns ‘N’ Roses. Slash before leaving GNR, he played a couple of hits with Michael Jackson. Axl believed in the charges over Michael being a child abuser and was highly devastated by Slash's decision of playing alongside Michael just for a ‘TV set’. From Axl’s point of view, that was the only problem. He could ignore the drugs and the alcohol, but never the child abuse.” If only Slash would've apologized to Axl there would have been a possibility of the band reuniting quoted the manager Goldstein.

To Slash’s understanding, it felt as if Axl has lost the taste in music. But truth to be told, Axl was no longer enjoying playing alongside the ‘once known legendary guitarist’ anymore. Miscommunication grew between the two good friends and soon the end of the band was witnessed. For 2 decades these old pals never thought of once to contact each other and sort things out. It happens to be Axl Rose, who came up to Slash and had a talk with him back in 2016 after two whole decades.

Guns N Roses – “A Night In The Jungle”

Guns ‘N’ Roses wasn’t the only legacy of Slash. After the band was disbanded, Slash and few former members of GNR Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum, alongside Dave Kushner formed a new band Velvet Revolver with the lead singer being Scott Weiland. ‘Slither’ being their greatest hit of all time, consists of the craziest guitar riffs. It is said that even professionals fail to execute the lead part. Slash’s Snakepit, The Conspirators featuring Myles Kennedy were the uprising golden dawn of his work.

It was said that Sweet Child ‘O’ Mine was something he’d disliked. It was because of the type of genre they played and not the riff. It just did not fit in the genre of the band quoted Saul Hudson in an interview with Guitar Center. The best part of Sweet Child ‘O’ Mine was that it was an accident. Slash was simply trying new chords and bridges while Axl overheard him playing. And a few days later Axl came up with the lyrics and the fandom was born.

Some of his greatest recordings being November Rain by Guns ‘N’ Roses, Sweet Child ‘O’ Mine, Slither by Velvet Revolver, and Fall To Pieces. Over the years he has worked with multiple artists such as Myles Kennedy, Michael Jackson, Bob Dylan, Alice Cooper, and many more. He is believed to use the same guitar that he played during his Guns ‘N’ Roses records as well as Velvet Revolver.

Velvet Revolver

The fun fact being he has had few sitcom appearances. He was introduced in SouthPark to play for an event. If you notice, he is very well known for his hat that he wore throughout his sessions and is now a souvenir. Even if you’d introduce someone new to the band, they’d always be able to figure out slash’s appearance and attire.

Regardless of what happened and what did not between the members of Guns ‘N’ Roses, it will always be a dream of a lifetime for the metalheads to see them reunite and perform again. And Slash just is doing Slash things. Those riffs would still be heard with pleasure. And those vocals will never be forgotten.
